Safety Standards

Executive to Apprentice,
Thompson is Serious about Safety

At Thompson Electric, we work together with our employees to exceed national safety standards.

  • Each branch has its own safety manager who conducts frequent, random jobsite inspections.

  • All new employees are required to participate in a safety orientation and test, to ensure they understand our safety program.

  • Our production and management teams receive continuous training to recognize and mitigate the various hazards that can be encountered on a job site.

  • Each jobsite conducts a weekly toolbox talk focusing on a specific safety topic.

  • The safety performance scorecard is reviewed each month by the executive committee.

  • We publish a monthly health and safety newsletter.

As a culmination of these efforts, our safety program sponsors an annual event to recognize those within the company who have contributed to our safety accomplishments. In addition to gifts and pins, we present cash awards in excess of ten thousand dollars each year.

Our statistics confirm the success of our safety program, which we believe is the result of a good balance between safety incentives and disciplinary action. Thompson Electrtic Company has an experience modificaion rate of 0.76, as calculated by our insurance agency.  This rate is well below the national average.
